I get an error message of "Low On Virtual Memory" that pops up. This causes
the computer to perform sluggish and some background programs(Norton
AV...etc) shut down..., then I have to re-boot to get it back to normal. The
computer has no programs open at all when the error pops up. It's just
sitting on the windows desktop. I have increased the virtual memory by 50%
about 4 months ago, and had no problems. I have not installed anything since
then ether. Can someone provide me with some tip's on how to troubleshoot
this and some links?, The computer is running Windows 2000.

Thanks,

Travis

It would help to know a little about facts and figures.
There is basically two approaches; One is if you have generated a temporary
pagefile.
Check your pagefile size on the Preformance options window.
the other is search for tempf.sys;if it exists you need to build a new pagefile.

If not found, use this
=============
Rebuilding Virtual Memory::

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced[tab] > Peformance Options
Change...

Set Initial and Max to "0"(zero), Ok out, Restart

Go to Change... again, enter 2x or 2.5x in both places, OK out, Restart

Run a Defrag, and a chkdsk /v (Run... > "type" cmd /k chkdsk /v <enter> (shouldn't
take long) "type" exit<enter>
