Low on memory - Windows Mail

I keep getting a message that Windows is low on memory and that I should
close Windows Mail. I have 1GB of RAM and a 512MB pagefile. The error occurs
even if it's the only program running. It seems to occur more when I have
subscribed to newsgroups.

Well, try increasing your pagefile. Or, let Windows mange it for you.

Personally, with 1GB of RAM, I don't think 512 is large enough-
not close, not for Vista.

I agree with Michael. Even with 1.5GB of RAM, my pagefile sometimes gets to
a gig.

General accepted size of the pagefile should be 1.5 times the amount of RAM.
In this case, 1.5 GB should be the size.

Additionally, if you set both the minimum and maximum size to this number,
you may experience less pagefile fragmentation, but that is only my opinion.

Forgot to mention- Windows Mail is a damn hog. Just looked at Task Manager-
about 113,000K for Windows Mail. That's a lot.

It must vary from setup to setup mine is only using 56,096k and 62,350 when
a compose mail window is up

Thanks to everyone. Seems strange that the only program that has memory
issues is WinMail. I even do video editing with Ulead DVD Movie Factory and
that's never given me a memory low problem! I've increased the pagefile
which seems to be helping. When Vista is finally released I think I'll get a
new PC (with 2GB RAM!)

Windows Mail is using 46,600 here....

WTF are you doing with poor Windows Mail??? ;-)
I am running a 4GB machine on Vista x64...

How long have you had Windows Mail opened? Since my last
post it has grown from 113,000 to 198,000. I've had it opened
since about 7 a.m. I also have 5 different news servers with multiple
newsgroups and multiple email accounts.

Windows Mail keeps growing, and growing, and growing........

Couple of hours, whenever I made the prom date post.

I sent a report with a screenshot of taskman. If nothing else MSFT should
get a chuckle.

Down to a much more reasonable 228000 now...

Windows Mail is only using 27MB of RAM here.

As I write this, WinMail is using 166,512MB of RAM on my system!
I only booted into Vista and loaded the Mail prog 5 minutes ago...
