Low Disk Space

We have two Hard drives, C & D. C has 16 G's of space. D
has 64 G's of space,.
C is filled up and the "Low HD Space" warning is
displayed. This prevents some applications from working.
We cannot understand why it is full. There are no new
files on it, so it seems. The computer is rarely used.
And D HD is empty.
What does this mean how can we correct it?
Thanks!
regards,
Curtis

In MY Computer, right click on the C: drive and select
properties.
Then click the "disk cleanup" button. It will examine the
drive for files that can be deleted safely. There is also a
"more options" tab on the disk cleanup window, select it to
be able to delete all but the most recent system restore
point.

You can and should check for programs you have installed on
C:, perhaps some are no longer needed and can be removed
with "add/remove software" in control panel.

You can move the MY Documents folder to your D: drive using
TweakUI ( PowerToys for XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Check for Trojans and spyware which may have installed and
created files for other (hackers) to use. You could even be
hosting a porn site and not know it.

In addition to what Jim posted, in the future be sure to check that any
programs you install go to your D drive. Most all programs give you the
choice of which directory you want to install to. Of course a portion of all
programs must install on C drive by default, but the rest will load the
directory you specify.
