Hello people.

I have a problem with disk space on my computer.

I have 1 drive with 20g of disk space (c drive) this is where my
programmes are loaded.
I have deleted all programmes bar the ones i need which are:
photoshop cs (+ a few plugins) - illustrator cs - signlab - xara x -
adobe reader and printer software. I am running kaspersky virus
software.
when i deleted the rest of the programmes i was left with 1gb of disk
space, i restarted my pc and now only have 200 mb of space. Whenever i
delete or defrag the space keeps on getting taken again. I have looked
through all folders that i know of in explorer and cannot find where
the memory/disk space is going to.
I have 2x pc's that are the same. The other pc has more software etc..
but has only used 12gb of space.
Would some of you lovely people please help.
Thanks
George

Did you uninstall or delete?
Did you empty your recycle bin? I have recycle bin turned off so that
it actually deletes the items I deleted right away.

You can see how much dsk space is being used for each directory
(folder) by using FILE EXPLORER right mouse click , choose properties.
Any directory thats highlighted will show the bytes taken up by the
stuff in and under that directory.

Check how much space System Restore is taking on your system.

Most likely Windows is reserving the extra space for use as Virtual Memory.
Go into the Control Panel, System, and check to see if this is true and if
it is, change the Virtual Memory setting to a lower capacity of GB's.

hello. computer is allocated 1.4gb i changed it to 1gb and switched pc
off and on again and the extra 400mb has gone
:)

Hello John Mcgaw.

Thanks very much for this. that programme is really really good to see
what goes where so to speak !!!!!
The problem was temporary photoshop files being stored in an odd folder
somewhere.
I now have 14gb of free space left on my pc.

Thanks again.

George

I personally wouldn't recommend anyone to turn Recycle Bin off, especially
if he is working with pictures, might need them back again or accidentally
delete a file
