I have had this machine for about 8 months. All of a sudden I get a pop up
bax at the bottom of screen that says Low Disk Space, you are running out of
disk space on HP restore D:. So I did one of the things that was suggested
and deleted all restore points except the last one. Now I still get this
notice every few minuets. When I check disk space it says Drive C: 143 GB
total 131GB free / Restore Drive D: 5.50GB total 32.6 MB free. As you can see
I don't have very much on the hard drive and those 5.50 & 32.6 numbers look
about the same as it always has. So does anyone know what kind of problem I
have?
thanks

I read another post on this page and it made me look at the running
processes (cntl, alt, del) and I find system idle process is using 99% of cpu
usage. So maybe my problem lies here?

Yeah your system is too bored with doing nothing so it's
nagging you! :-)

Seriously, it's warning you because 32.6 MB free is
awfully small in modern terms.

What program or tool is needing space on the D: drive? If you can figure
that out, you may be able to reconfigure so that the C: drive where you
have more room will be used instead. You may need to ask HP about this if
you are unable to find a way to redirect "whatever" on your own.

You can turn off System Restore for the D: drive.
You can turn off indexing for the D: drive.
You can turn on Compression for the D: drive (NTFS).
Then use the compact command to compress the folders.
You may pick up a GB or 2.
You shouldn't even need the D: drive for regular work with 131 GB free on
the C: drive. Use the new 1 or 2 GB on D: as backup for data files but not
to save downloads and documents on the fly.

Now for the System / Boot lesson - Your C: partiton is way to huge. Get a
Partition Magic Wand and trim it down to 32GB, then create a 32 GB E: (for
temp, installs, pacakages and emergency), the rest (minus 8 MB) a Partition
F: ( for files, folders and fooling around.) Turn on compression for E and
F. Make them all primary, NTFS with 4K clusters.
Feel free to use your imagination (except on the C: partition. :) )
