I agree. Rock solid stable. That's why I believe it may be
awhile before the masses, especially businesses, upgrade
to Vista. I like Vista, it's cool. But other than being "cool",
I see no compelling reason for many to rush into Vista. JMHO.

And if you think the x86 version of XP is rock solid you ought to try the
x64 edition.

That's what I've heard. My next computer purchase will be
that. Just keep trying to justify to myself another puter-
I already have two desktops and two laptops.
Unfortunately, they all work great- I'm sure I'll find
some excuse. ;-)

I too have been very happy with XP - Vista has lots of ''eye candy'' (which
I am getting to like also), but not sure I'll shell out for final release.

IF I go for Windows Vista, I might as well go for Office 2007 (I have this
beta also). I'm pretty sure this is the law.
:o)

Hello Vista, good bye Visa.............................

Office 2007 works on XP SP2.

I have seven computers, but whose wife is counting?

LOL! No wife unit here, not yet. Just a few critters
vying for my attention. I've got a girlfriend who has
a birthday coming up in August, hmm.... ;-)

I am used to Windows XP and Office Pro 2003. I can do things quickly and
easily. Not that I do much. Fact is, I could probably do all I need to do
with a yellow pad and a #2 pencil.

However, bells, whistles, and do dahs are more fun.

I think there is a computer software ''code of conduct'' (written on the
back of an empty pack of Camels and hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar)
that states one must upgrade OS and Office to the most recent version ASAP.
Pretty sure the penalty is real severe in my house for not doing so - yep -
this is my story and I am sticking to it.

this post made with no respect for reality - just fun and the enjoyment of
MS's latest Betas

Thank you for all of the comments. I know that I missed XP. I did load it
just before and it was great, but Vista seems to be really well thought out
(by usability groups). I hoped it would be a leap from XP as 2000 was to 98,
and I am not dissapointed.

This Beta is not without it's bugs as I was having some problems with
Windows explorer shuting the whole system down, but fI am greatly
encouraged.

I have. Actually, the same thing happened to me on my first install. For
almost a whole day every other hour Windows explorer would crash the system.
It did yesterday in my new install, but I set my most used folders to be
"indexed" and within an hour it has stopped and the system has not crashed
since.

Things seem to be going well.

I do have a general question, though. The 3D Flip is pretty small on my
system running at 1280 x 1024. What determines what size the windows are
rendered at, and is there a way to change it?

Thank for all time and knowlegde,

iam

I haven't seen such a setting. I don't know what you mean by "small" but
the windows are about the size of a large requester on my screen.
