Perhaps the next milestone is to fix your clock/timezone? :-)

My question is, why do half the people think Vista is a good OS and the
other half think just the opposite?

Harry.

Meaning, half the people don't know how to handle it, perhaps???
If that's what you are saying?
Official opinion is, that half of the system is an improvement, the other
half is not. H.

So how come I have no sound on my 1 year old PC after upgrading from XP Pro
to Vista.

And I cannot find a driver anywhere on the web.

Is that why you're posting in the future? Yes it's good. Have fun with it.

My question is, why do half the people think Vista is a good OS and the
other half think just the opposite?

Because half the people are smarter than the other half.

It could be because half the people love Vista, the other half don't like
Vista, and the Third Half, just don't know!

In my experience with change, about 1/3 love the new way, 1/3 hate it, and
1/3 don't care. In opinion voicing the 1/3 that doesn't care steps out of
the picture leaving 1/2 and 1/2.

There is a difference though with those that hate MS and their OSs. They
are rabid haters for their own agenda. You would think they would just go
on their way and use whatever OS they want and have a life, but for some
reason they have to feed their pathology by any one of a number of ways.
One such manifestation is to troll in these newsgroups.

It's pathetic, really.

Those who like Vista are people that made decent PC buying decisions and
those who are decent PC builders. The other half is made up of people who
THINK they know what they are doing and are finding themselves with crap for
hardware. Mixed with people that love to have bleeding edge hardware but
are not capable of waiting for driver updates.

IMHO the famous Hardware Tom provides a good explanation for the mixed
feelings many of us have when he writes that

"Vista is the better Windows, because it behaves better, because it
looks better and because it feels better. But it cannot perform better
than Windows XP."

and asks

"Is this a K.O. for Windows Vista in the enthusiast space?"

in his article

<http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/page11.html#conclusion_ko_for_windows_vista>

(Of course, considerably more people than those holding a MS title as
MCSE or MVP are dependant on Microsoft in one or the other way...)

I look forward to the forthcoming comparison
between XP SP3 and Vista SP1...

Because half the people out there are morons! The actual percentage is probably higher.

That must then include professional opinion, which also found, the advantages of the latest OS by Microsoft are equal to the disadvantages, or?

Half the people here in this newsgroup, perhaps. It is my guess that an
overwhelming majority of Vista users think Vista is pretty good, including
me. Of course, an overwhelming majority of Windows Media Player 11 users
probably think that's pretty good, too and I think it sucks.
