I just found some old cds from magazines with free versions of the
excellent Lotus Smartsuite. As the cds are fairly old, they contain
Smartsuite 98 and Millenium and are dated around 99 IIRC. I am tempted to
try them, but is it safe to install them on W2k or XP?

BTW, though I see freeware organizers like TimeCore with good features, I
have yet to see a word processor, free or payware, as nice as Lotus
WordPro.

I loaded Lotus Smartsuite 97 on my XP machine and it works just fine. I
agree that it is a super program. In fact I have an old Ami Pro circa the
late '80s working just fine with XP - the only thing it doesn't recognize is
the scroll mouse.

Sure does ! I have the same CD from a magazine and it's the
only office siute I use. The spreadsheet makes Excel look like
the piece 'o shit it really is.

From memory, when I loaded my Millennium version there was a slight
problem with Approach. It needed a patch, which was easily available via
a Google search. But I can't recall where I got it from, nor quite what
it put right.
