i accidently deleted the windows games and i don't have the windows xp disc
how can i get them back

You normally won't need your Windows XP CD to retrieve them, because they
are "system" files, Dave. Go into Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs,
then click the Add/Remove Windows Components in the left pane. With
Accessories and Utilities highlighted on the first screen, click the Details
button. Single left-click Games in the next screen to highlight it, then
again click the Details button. On the resulting screen you can add or
remove check marks from any of the listed games. OK your way back twice
(two screens) then click the Next button and finally Finish. Restart your
system, and you should then see the changes.

thanks chris but we have tried that and it said we need the floppy disc to
put into drive c

Dave, open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and browse to the
C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder. If you cannot locate the files like sol.exe
(Solitaire) or winmine.exe (Minesweeper), you may have serious problems on
your system. There should be absolutely no call at all to go to a floppy
drive, since those and other game files (except Pinball) are in the System32
folder.

In Chris H. <[email protected]> had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

Additionally? If you've lost your disk you might want to find it... It is
important.

Ok, I have not really lost Pinball but it is up and out fast. Have tried the
new Video card driver fix with no luck ( ATI Rage Pro AGP 2X), which windows
says the new driver is not compatable. Tried the add/remove but Pinball is
not listed with other games. It was working fine and then POOF nada. Any and
all help greatly appreciated.

If you still have a shortcut for Pinball on the desktop or All Programs,
right-click it and select Delete. It'll ask to verify that you want to
remove just the shortcut, and you should do so.

Then right-click your desktop, select New, then Shortcut. When the screen
comes up, expand the Local Disk (C:) drive, then expand the Program Files
folder. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Pinball where Pinball
lives, and locate the pinball.exe file. Single left-click it to select it,
then click the OK button. This will create a correct link to the proper
file.

Sorry, guess I should have said I had already been into Explorer and found
the exe file and tried to open it. No luck. I tried your suggestion just the
same. Seems and I am guessing this, do I need to reinstall? I don't want to
lose what I have. I am not sure but it may have gone bye, bye after I
installed my new sound card
(soundblaster Live 24bit). Windows said it was compatable but...Did that
because Media Player won't keep playing. Didn't help that situation either!
May go back to 98 even if I don't want to. Nothing but headaches since going
to XP. Have a 950 MHz with 768 RAM. Any suggestions? Keep em coming, I'll try
anything and hope it works. I love the game and want it back.

No "reinstall" on this, because that is the program. Sounds like you may
have other issues on your system if Media Player isn't performing properly
either. Have you run a thorough anti virus check with your AV program using
the latest definitions? You can also use a couple free, online AV checkers
like Housecall and on the Kaspersky web site. They're pretty good. Also,
take a look at the free tools available on MVP Jim Eshelman's web site to
dig out parasites/malware/spyware/Trojans, etc.: www.aumha.org/secure.htm .
I would strongly suggest you use several AV checks, and then run at least
three of the free tools available to check for malware. They will make
things really, really difficult. On a good system, the instructions I gave
to restore Pinball should work without fail.

I have EZ Trust antivirus, MS firewall, no-adware, and spybot all installed
and have run them all with latest definitions in the last 2 days. Nothing
found except a few cookies which I deleted. Yes, I think my motherboard may
be going bad. Have tried many things to no avail. Several other minor
problems which also indicate a motherboard problem so...Could this also be
causing the pinball problem? Am trying it get by a couple months till the $
catches back up after Christmas. Thanks,jn
