Lost WinXP in dual boot after playing msconfig

Here's my problem: my old (5 years) ibm laptop originally runs well. It
has 2 boot options: winxp and win2k. Yesterday I played around with
msconfig because I found it takes too long to restart the compuater
(entering the XP after I installed acrobat 7.0). I clearly remember
that I disabled a process called: tp2mon.exe, which comes with this ibm
laptop ( i didn't know until I googled). Then after I restart the
computer, I tried to enable it again, then I found I could not close
the msconfig window (clicking the 'close' button does not have any
response). Then I shut down the computer. After that I restarted the
computer and found I lost winXP in the boot screen. Win2k still works,
but since I usually work under winXP, I would appreciate it if somebody
can give me any hints on how to restore XP. I try to re-boot it from XP
cd, but it always automatically start from c: drive (where win2k is
located).
Thanks for any information.

I presume that 2k came with your laptop and xp was a retail purchase. There
is a kb on how to restore registry from recovery console at microsoft.com

pss: next time try using a freeware like taskinfo2002 that will provide you
with detailed descriptions of those tasks you don't readily recognize.....
