I lost the Windows 2000 Professional CD that came with my
IBM ThinkPad and I have to reinstall. I have the
original license sticker with the Product Key and the
Product ID, but no media. Am I SOL? If not, what can I
do?

I tried installing from an OEM Windows 2000 Professional
CD I had from another computer, but it won't take my
ThinkPad's Win2k Product ID.

I also tried to put in an online help request on
Microsoft's support site, but when asked to enter my
Product ID the site said it was not valid, which is not
true. (And yes, I entered the right number and didn't
make any typos.)

Suggestions? Thanks!

the reason the number is shown as non-valid is becasue the cd is probably
OEM and not supported by microsoft
it *is* however supported by the manufacturer of the machine
so if you go back to them...they can probably help you!
