Lost USB Service

I've installed XP Pro on my machine and at the time all my USB ports on the
computer were working fine. Since I've down loaded the SP1 and installed it,
the USB ports have stoped working. Can any one help me with this problem
short of uninstalling SP1?

You might remove the USB root hub, then the USB Host Controllers in
Device Manager (in that order), reboot, and let XP redetect the
hardware, also.
