Does anyone know if the small update for Windows Movie
Maker in Windows XP Home's New Service Pack 2 will fix
this problem?? I've tried just about everything to get
my transitions and effects back, including registering
the dll's, reinstalling, uninstalling then reinstalling,
and I'm just about ready to give up. Will the new update
fix this problem?? I sure hope it does.

The minor update is not the solution in itself but because it gets installed
as a major update of the operating system it might actually force the
corrupt DLLs to be registered properly. Please try and report.

Kevin,
I am in the same position as you. My transitions page is a blank
and I cannot seem to recover it. Has anyone sent you a solution? If so, could
you let me know what it is. Alex

I just posted the following on another thread, it might be of some
assistance here as well...The full text for the post is on the thread called
"transitions help."

Could you try the following?
(Back up your registry first if you aren't comfortable with doing this kind
of operation!).

1. Make sure Movie maker is shutdown.
2. Choose "Start" | "Run"
3. Type "regedit.exe" (no quotes) and Enter.
4. In Regedit, navigate to the following keys, and delete them (as well as
any child nodes they may contain):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\{CC7BFB46-F175-11D1-A392-00E0291F3959}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\{CC7BFB47-F175-11D1-A392-00E0291F3959}
5. Launch MM and look to see if you've got your missing Trans/Effects back.

Hopefully, this will work....

Actually, SP2 is what messed my Movie Maker up...when it tried to upgrade it
from v2 to v2.1 is when my effects and transitions went missing.
