Hi

It use to work, i dont know when it stopped as i dont use it regularly, but
i wanted to write some files today on my DVD, but it just doesnt want to
record, nor does the CD-RW drive i got as i tried that too.

Without the Disk in they read:

CD-RW Drive (F)
DVD-RW Drive (G)

but as soon as a disks in i notice they read

CD Drive (F)
CD Drive (G)

I tried right clicking properties in recording tab, and enabling the
recording on drive on both and makes no difference.

Also I tried what i read on a website change in registry for the drive type
from Type 1 to 2, and that didnt work.

Any ideas?

F is a Sony CD-RW CRX230E
G is a Lite On SOHW 1213S

thanks
Shirl

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the CD and DVD devices,
Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers
again automatically.

Hi

Tried that and still doesnt record.

It could have happened when i put in more hardrives drives as thats the only
thing that i changed a couple of months ago.
I have
a: floppy
c: parallel connection Hard Drive
d: parallel connection Hard Drive
e: parallel connection Hard Drive (partition of d)
f: CD/RW Drive
g: DVD/RW Drive
h: This is a Virtual Drive i used once to open files and made itself H
i: SCSI Harddrive
J: SCSI Harddrive

any help to get the DVD and CDRW drives to record would be great.
thanks

CD repair for XP:

Also try the following. You should back up the registry before making
changes:

Click Start, Run, type Regedit, click OK.
Locate this Registry Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the
data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot

I have the same problem only started a week or so ago, I know the drives are
good I tried two diffrent drives. I can put them in a USB enclosure and they
work fine.

I tried the filters fix, I tried reinstalling all of my burning programs,
switched IDE cables, changed BIOS settings. I figure it has to be an update
to one of the programs I have (probally XP it's the only auto update I have
turned on). My last resort is to reload XP.

Hi

Did you find any solution of this problem? Cause I have the same
problem with my two dvd recorders on two different computers - don't
know what's going on.
What could be useful - my dvd recorder is found as a SCSI CDROM - I've
installed all of drivers to it's motherboard, everything and still
nothing - I don't have dvd recorder.
If you know something about this - let me know.
Greetings Mati
