Have lost the task manger on work computer and couldn't get it back - have
managed to now - see below.
All updates installed including Malicous S.Ware tool.
McAfee AnitVir constantly running and updated every day.
Full Scan revealed Nada, Nothing, Zip.
Did manage to get process list from Excel's System Info Page - please see
http://www.skeggie.co.uk/Processes.txt - nothing I identified as a potential
virus/malware.
So far have tried Ctrl-Alt-del to select, right clicking application bar,
and doing Start - Run - taskmgr. All of which have zero effect.
C:\Windows\TASKMAN.EXE = V5.1.2600.0 by MS. 15,360bytes
C:\Windows\System32\TASKMGR.EXE = V5.1.2600.2180 by MS. 135,680bytes
Trying to run from explorer window here says file doesn't exist.
Only way I could get to the task manager was to take a copy of this file,
and run that. If I rename it back (on desktop) to TaskMgr.exe it says the
file doesn't exist. Renaming it back to TaskMgr2.exe and it brings up the
task manager.
Weird!
Anyone out there got any ideas how to resolve this? Still pretty sure it's a
Virus remnant, but how it's got under ththe radar is troubling!
Thanks
Chris
