After finally getting my computer back on thursday after
it had been upgraded from 256 mb of ram to 512mb and an
extra 80 gb hard drive, I was listening to music on
launchcast, and downloading a song off kazaa lite, so i
paused the song on launch, tryed to play the downloaded
song on windows media player, their is no sound on my
computer wha-so-ever. It seems to have been lost like
other peoples, Ive tryed swapping around where my
soundcard is, reinstalling and uniinstalling drivers,
checking to see if its on mute, and all the
troubleshooters but nothing helps. CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio
Device is the sound card i use i think, and i have 5.1
sorround sound, so im wondering if anybody would be kind
enough to try and help me. I dont have that disk to just
restore my computer back to factory settings so i cant do
that either.
Any help would be much aprreciated.

Yep, ive tried all that, its all enabled. It was working
and now its just dissapeared. I have the latest driver
and troubleshoot cant help me, it gets to the end of the
troubleshoot and says it has no more options for me.

Note he said "Kazaa lite". I don't know that much about
the other 49 variations, but Kazaa Lite K++ has run just
fine on my machine for the past year and a half or so.

have you lost all sound or just kazaa files and through
media player? did you check out your speaker profiles in
media player (may be turned off in there...) and not to
insult you, but double check your volume control in media
player (it does work independently of master sys vol).
you did not say whether device manager says your device
(sound card...) is working properly or not, if it says it
is, then chances are it is a setting somewhere... XP has
really good device management and reporting. and as
others have mentioned... ditch kazaa quick, aside from
audio issues, the site is notorious for hackers, viruses,
trojans, and all those nasty things we try to avoid. you
may consider napster... they have REALLY cleaned up their
act and have great quality at reasonable prices... and it
is very user friendly and easy to restore your library
from them.
