I seem to have lost some wallpapers and don't know why. Is there some
easy way to get them back (assuming they're still on my hard drive)?

Are you sure the dustbins man didn't collect them? ;-).

It depends on where you have been saving them, if you included them in the
wallpaper directory, then they will be there, look here:
C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper = look in the right pane/Window for the Gif, Bmp,
Jep, jpg, png.etc.
You can turn Show Hidden Files and folder from the Folder Options, don't
forget to set it back to Hide, please!.
What format these Wallpaper they are in?.

Which ones are missing? Are they ones you have downloaded/added or the default
ones that are included with Windows?

The default Windows background graphics are .bmp files which are stored in
C:\Windows.

If they are not the default files and you're sure you didn't delete them, use Start
Search > For Files and Folders... to locate the files.

Type the filename, the file extension type preceded with *.
(asterisk-dot-extension) or the filename + extension into the "Search for files or
folders named:" input text box. I suggest not searching by extension only for
graphics files since you may/can/will get hundreds of returns on the search.
Leave the "Containing text" box blank.
In the "Look in" dropdown list box select a drive to search, multiple
drives/partitions (if present in the machine) or select "Browse" to search a specific
directory/folder.
If "Search Options" is available select "Advanced Options" > "Search System
Folders, Search hidden files/folders and Search subfolders".
Once you have you search criteria set click the "Search Now" button.

If you conduct a search that includes System/Hidden Files/Folders/Extensions and
you have not enabled them to be visible, do so before searching:
Open either MyComputer or Explorer.
On the Menu bar click Tools > Folder Options.... > View tab.
Put a check in the box for "Display the contents of system folders".
Put a tic in "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
Click Apply > Ok.

When you have finished your search, reverse the above to disable visibility of the
System/Hidden Files/Folders/Extensions.

Yes, all my wallpapers are in Windows/Web/Wallapaper. However, they
don't show up in my drop down list of choices. Can I fix the pointer
in the Registry? It must have become corrupted. NOTE: Most of what
shows up in the drop down list are not wallpapers at all.
