Hope someone can let me know what I need to do.

I purchased my PC about 2 years ago new from Dell. It come pre-installed
with XP home.

I have since moved house and need to reformat my har drive and reinstall
windows xp home. The big problem is I have lost my recovery disc. I have the
product key, which dell always stick to the side of their PC's. How do I get
another copy, or if I cannot what are my other options. Do I actually have
to go and buy another copy of XP, when I have already purchased a legal copy
when I purchased my PC.

Thanks

Hi

Have you tried contacting Dell to see if they can supply you with another XP
CD? You may have to pay for it though.

You could try contacting Dell, and if you get no joy from them, buy XP from
a store.. support for OEM versions as supplied by Dell is solely the
responsibility of Dell.. the company is acutely aware of this..

I have already asked Dell and they have said they cannot issue copies of a
3rd party software.

Thats rubbish - maybe as a result of language -
The recovery disk(s) are not third party disks/apps they are Dell, if they
repeat the rubbish ask for the supervisor.
Call again and give your Tag# tell them the Dell recovery disk has been
damaged and disposed of, and that you require a replacement.
I think however Dell may only able to supply ones that arnt 'to old'

Your only recourse is with Dell. Ask them if they will supply another copy
or sell one to you inexpensoively. Unless they say yes, you will need to buy
a new copy.
