I have a Product ID. How can I re-install XP with out the product key?

The product was registered.

Thanks

You can't. You need a product key!

I'm a little confused. Your Subject line says "Lost product key"
and your text says "I have a product ID". Now do you have
one or don't you?

If you lost it then one of these tools might retrieve it
from your working WinXP installation:

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

You might also want to read the big print on the WinXP CD
box which says "Do not lose this key".

Pegasus,
A product id and product key are "NOT" the same thing - the OP said he
lost his/her product key (the 25-digit 5x5 code to install), but has the
product id (found on the my computer properties a 5x3x7x5 number) - which in
this case, directing him/her to use the keyfinder and/or belarc advisor
is/was a good approach to retrieve the "Product Key", as it would seem the
OP still has the XP installation installed and bootable (since they provided
the Product ID).
But, the OP needs to be aware, if it was an OEM installation, made by a
large PC manufacturer, the "Product Key" retrieved will be that of the "disk
image" used by the manufacturer, not the correct "Product Key" required for
installation (which should be attached to the PC on the side, back, bottom,
top, etc), as the "disk image" Product Key will only work for the "disk
image" it was designed for, not an OEM CD and/or recovery CD.

What Pegasus is saying is that the person could NOT have a product I.D.
without having had installed the operating system which needs a product key
to install.

Therefore they HAVE a product key!

Use MagicJellyBean KeyFinder as suggested as well.

In Belarc what do you see under "Software Licences"
against the identification of your operating system ?
