Hello,

I installed all the latest WinXP critical and recommended software updates this weekend on several PCs. One PC had a HP Laserjet 1000 connected. After the install and reboots, the printer showed up as offline. I powered off and reconnected and still problems. I deleted and re-added it. Shows online, but will not connect. Deleteted again and tried to let P & P find it. It can not be found. Did a P&P scan and still not found. Took printer to other PC (Win2k SP4) and it connects fine. Checked the USB controllers and all in working order. No error messages on event log. Here is the exact error message:

"the hp laserjet 1000 is either not properly connected to you computer or power source"

It is connected, WinXP just can not find it.....

Help!
Thanks.

SP1 installs updates to the USB system, especially USB 2 drivers. On the PC
with the troubles, remove ALL USB ports/devices and reboot. Windows XP
should be able to re-detect the USB ports.
