I am using windows 2000 on a local machine. I haven't used
the machine in sometime and can't remember the password. I
tried to change the boot sequence to re-install Windows
2000 from the CD. The system will not boot from CD drive
is there anyway of reinstalling windows 2000 from the CD?

Thanks

you don't need to reinstall.. boot to a 98 floppy, mount the HDD (using
NTFSDOS if required), type the following:

del c:\winnt\system32\config\sam.*

reboot and login as administrator with no password

Go into the BIOS, check the boot sequence included CD ROM

Press 'F10' (save & exit).

It should now boot from CD-ROM
