Daniel

I contacted online assisted support about this yesterday,
and have received no response, so I thought I would ask
you.

I was using my computer, including Outlook 2000 and
everything was working perfectly. I got an automatic
notice about a Windows update (the little world with the
Windows flag). I closed all applications and performed the
update successfully, and did a restart.

When I tried to launch Outlook 2000, I got an error
message that my .pst file was missing - and it is. Why did
the update cause this, and how do I recover my .pst file -
I need to use my email ASAP.

This is the history of the update:
Successful Thursday, October 16, 2003 Security Update for
Microsoft Windows (KB824141) Automatic update
Successful Thursday, October 16, 2003 Security Update for
Microsoft Windows (KB823182) Automatic update

Microsoft Windows 2000 (KB825119) Automatic update
Successful Thursday, October 16, 2003 Security Update for
Microsoft Windows 2000 (KB828035) Automatic update

Outlook was working immediately before, and pst file was
gone immediately after this update. No other operations
were performed.

Please Help!!
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi,

This should not happen. The updates only replace the
system files. Have you done a complete search on your
computer for all *.pst files? Do you use archive feature?

Let me know the details.
Regards

Yes, I know it should not happen, but it did. I did a
search on *.pst and the file is not there.

I use archive feature - but how do I recover? I cannot
launch Outlook2000 - I get an error message during
startup, asking me to locate .pst file.

Thanks,
Daniel

I don't know why that happened. Go to STATR/SEARCH and
clink on files and folders. Enter outlook.pst in the box
telling what to search for. Click SEARCH. That should
locate the file. Copy it and past it in DOCUMENTS AND
SETTINGS/(YOUR USER ACCOUNT)/LOCAL SETTINGS/APPLICATION
DATA/MICROSOFT/OUTLOOK. Your outlook info should be
restored.
