I received a laptop for my new job running Windows 2000 and Outlook
Express 6.

Conventional access to Outlook Express 6 appears to be blocked (ie
through the program menu) by IT admin due to security issues posed by
Outlook Express 6.

I have set up Outlook Express 6 as email client to for my personal
email but the only way I can open the program is to start windows
Help, enter outlook express, which then gives me a link to start the
program. I am unable to create a link to the desk top from this
method.

I have tried search for a OE exe but can find no way of creating a
link to my desktop to open OE 6.

Can anyone give me some advice.

Regards,

M

If your company has a policy stating that you aren't to be using OE on your
work laptop, don't use OE on your work laptop. Or talk to the IT
staff/management to find out what their concerns are. Perhaps they don't
want you checking your personal email on your work computer - this is not an
unusual thing to ban, as it can pose a security risk.

Maybe you could explain to IT admin how important your personal e-mail
is and they will set it up for you.
