Lost (not already sent ) emails

I have had the frustrating experince of loosing a long carefully composed
email when Windows Mail decides to close down !! This often happens as i am
inserting Send detsils . I have a post already on this but is their any way i
can retrieve the "lost "email as i guess it is still somewhere on my hard
drive ? I have tried Restoration ( free software ) but no success
 
No, the message in composition is gone. Next time use File | Save while
composing (which will put the message in the Drafts and remove it when sent)
or better yet, use File | Save As and save it to the Desktop where it will
still be present after you send it.

Another option, besides Steve's suggestion, is to compose important
or lengthy emails in Word, then paste into Windows Mail.
Not only is Word more stable, it does automatic saves periodically.
 
The HTML used by Word is Microsoft-specific and extremely bloated as well as
in some cases being incompatible or inconsistent with how Winmail (or OE)
renders HTML. So if one composes in HTML it will be more accurately
rendered in the message if you uses Winmail (or OE) to compose the message
as well as much less bloated with unnecessary tags.

It's interesting that when Word is not used, the suggestion sometimes is to
use Word. When Word is used, the suggestions sometimes is to not use Word.
Well, suppose that is a consequence of the complexities of computers.

I thought that an improvement in Word a few versions back was to allow HTML
to be saved without unnecessary tags and such.
 
My suggestion for the OP to use Word assumed he was working with
plain text. I have heard that in the past, Word generated very bloated
HTML, but the latest version (2007) is not so bad in that regard.

Word does have that option, but very few people know about it or use it.
