OK this has got to be simple but I am having difficulties in finding the
right answer(s). My kid deleted the account Microsoft Communities from my
newsgroup account. Since I use Comcast he said I didn't need it - but I did
use it. How do I get it back?

Are you using Windows Mail as your news reader?

If so, just go to Accounts, then add a new news account at:

msnews.microsoft.com

No login required. Once you create the account, you'll be asked if you want
to download a list of news groups from the server, after which you can
subscribe to those which interest you.

If you use a different news reader, figure out how to add a new account in
that software.

Pardon moi, but it looks like you've found this newsgroup again via
Comcast's news server.

Was this post from the same computer? If so, you can access the
newsgroup via Comcast's news server as well. You don't need the
"communities" thingy in Windows Mail.

Just do a search on the word "microsoft" in your newsgroup lists and
you'll see what I mean. Subscribe to your faves and that's it.

Frankly Microsoft's own news server does a lousy job with it's own
newsgroups. I find accessing their newsgroups (which propagate all
over Usenet just like most newsgroups do) via another sever preferable
anyway.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
NOTICE: In-Newsgroup (and therefore off-topic) comments on my sig will
be cheerfully ignored, so don't waste our time.
