lost my programs

After upgrading to XP I lost ALL of my programs. So, OK,
I'm trying to reinstall but then I get the error msg.
that install cannot continue because,....

Error msg says "Cannot create file 'C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users"

My system already has a ... Documents and Settings\All
Users.windows' subdirectory and this .windows extension
on the sub-dir name seems to be preventing me from
installing ANY new software. How can I rename or change
it ????

I now cannot install ANY new program in XP Home Ed.

You need to check, (Control Panel-Users and click on your User) because
only users with Admin rights or The Administrator can install programs
(usually....)
