Hi everyone.

I am on a company laptop and when I have it away from the company, I
log in and naturally, it cannot connect to the domain. Normally, my
desktop loads fine with all my icons. My profile is in documents and
settings under MYUSERNAME.

Well I logged in the other night and noticed all my icons gone expect
for the standard ones. Sure enough, I looked under documents and
settings and a new profile - MYUSERNAME.MYDOMAIN was created.

Why did this occur and can I change it back somehow?

Thanks
Brian

Your assumption is not quite correct. Even though you're away
from the office, you can still get validated against your domain
account, using "cached" credentials.

When you log on, make sure to select the company domain
validation. It's the third box on your logon screen. If you cannot
see it, click the Options button. If you still cannot see it then you
probably took your machine off the domain. You will have to ask
your system administrator to reconnect you.

Sorry - I left that part out.

The domain is in the dropdown like it always has been. However, my old
desktop is under MYUSERNAME and not MYUSERNAME.DOMAIN

I have a simular problem but it has nothing to do with not getting a domain.
My computer had another computer in the domain with the same login.

Now I have a group of files LOGIN.COMPUTER NAME

That part is the same on both of our computers.

JMAC out
