lost my favorites

i downloaded a security patch and now the favorites
(booksmarks) points to the c:windows folder and I cannot
reset it to the folder that has all my bookmarks (they are
still on my computer however. I have tried Tools, Internet
OPtions, Programs, reset.... and Advanced Enable
Personalized Favorites Folders. Neither has worked.

What operating system are you using (Win98, XP, etc.)?

If you can use your registry editor then go to the following key



HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders



there you should have a sub-key value for 'Favorites' that will probably
contain the value 'c:\Windows' (the folder where IE is currently searching
for your favorites)



If it does then change it to the folder where you have located the actual
favorite file 'c:\my documents\caroline\...' etc.



Also find the key



HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders and do the same there.



Close the registry and restart IE..

Kelly has quite a bit on the subject of missing Favorites (sometimes
the problem is that their designation changed to "hidden")
