Lost My Documents

A friend of mine had a PC running XP, with multi users.
The My documents folder was within each user. He had a
crash, could not recover, & reloaded XP, on the same path,
but with different user names. How can we access his old
documents? Every time we try, we do not have the rights to
open the folder. The information is not sensitive, but we
do need to read it.

Any assistance appreciated. I am conversant with Windows
98, NT & know a bit of 2000. I have some software tools
available, & am fairly competent.

You can regain access to those files by taking ownership of them.
