I had today's work saved on a file. I thought I had a
copy on a back-up disk, so I deleted the work in the
file, and when it asked me if I wanted to keep the
changes, I clicked YES, like an idiot. (I kept the file,
too, but of course now it's blank)

Is there any way of getting the work back -- getting back
to before I deleted the work and saved the changes? I'd
really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks. EL

If you did not save the file with the new work, it never existed on the
hard drive. There is nothing to recover.

If you overwrote the old file with the "empty" file, most likely the old
file contents are not recoverable.

When saying yes to overwrite a file, some programs will name away the copy
and create a new one with the same name. Other programs alter the existing
file. So there is a very slim chance that data recovery software could find
the "old" file and get it back.

Use the computer as little as possible until you can use one of these
tools. The more use that occurs, lessens the already slim chance of
recovery.
