Lost my connection

Hi,
I set up a simple home network between a desktop running XP Home and router
(the anchor), a laptop running XP Home and a laptop running 2000 Pro. All
the connections worked fine. I then added a little more security using a WEP
password on the desktop. The XP Home connected fine after I typed in the
password. The 2000 machine has balked. I never get a dialog box asking for a
password (key). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless card with
no success. Actually, the 2000 machine never gives me an option for
wireless. The only options I get are dialup. The 2000 machine does indicate
a connection but the activity sends packets but receives nothing. I shut
down the firewall on the desktop but still no success. What am I doing
wrong?
Thanks,
jll

Hello jll,

Open the properties from your wireless NIC and configure it there. Also WEP
is not secure, switch to WPA.

Hi Meinolf,
I tried that; I get no option for a wireless connection. I downloaded the
latest driver from the mfgr with no luck. I gave up on it. My next step is
to get a reasonable price for XP and install it. Win 2000 has too many
glitches for wireless for me. I'm back to an open link; everything is now
working again. I unplug the router when I'm not using it.
Thanks,
jll
