I recently upgraded from Windows 95 to W2000. Following
the advice of a computer pro, I edited my registry to
solve a problem I was having re-installing software.
Pleased with my new-found toy, I bit off more than I could
chew by editing the registry again to stop an annoying
message I was getting on start-up regarding not being able
to find "CDSETUP.EXE". The only problem is, I think I
deleted something which said "CDSetup" (NOT the same) and
I stupidly did not back up my registry before doing my
monkeying. Now, my CD-ROM drive does not appear in Windows
Explorer, and I can't use it for anything, although the
Driver Manager recognizes that it exists (it has a yellow
exclam on it). When I troubleshoot with Device Manager, I
get "Device Manager Error code 31" and it says Windows
can't load the drivers. Is there any hope?
