I don't know what I did but here it goes. When I hit
Start and then Program all listings are gone. I tried
the F8 at reboot to restore previous settings but to no
avail. How can I add all those listings back? I
wouldn't know where to begin to get all of them back
individually, like the systems tools, ms office programs,
and all the other ones. Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Rick,

1) - Right-click [Start] button
Click | Explore |
- this will open the "Start Menu" folder for the current user.

Now navigate to the "Start Menu\Programs" folder.

2) - Right-click [Start] button again, but this time
Click | Explore All Users |
- this will open the "Start Menu" folder for all users.

Now navigate to the "Start Menu\Programs" folder.

Are both of these folders empty?

If they contain your "missing" shortcuts, then I suggest you read this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:-

(Policy Settings for [Start] Menu in Windows XP Pro/HE)

In particular...

Policy:Remove More Programs list from [Start] Menu
Policy:Remove common program groups from Start Menu
Policy:Remove user folders from [Start] Menu
