Hi.
I have a server that I need to repair. Before I even get started, I look
for the license key. I am not sure if I need one, but no sense in getting
into the repair and needing the license and not having it.

As luck would have it, the license is no where to be found. I have been
working for this company for a little less than two years and have not really
needed the license, so I did not look for it. The person responsible for
keeping those materials does not know where it is.

So ... I am stuck!
Will I need the license key to repair the OS?
How can I find out what the license is suppose to be?

The only way that I can get into the server is through Domain Service
Repair, so the license must be available in this mode.

Thanks!

Where is it in the registry?

I suppose that I can use the tool, but ... I think it would be quicker to
use the registry.

Sorry, I stand corrected, you can only lookup the key in the reg for Windows
98 and ME, 2000 and higher you need the program I referenced. I have used
magic jellybean and it works great. You can also use a program called Belarc
located at:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

I hope this helps

I second the recommendation for Belarc (www.belarc.com) - it will tell you
this and much more.
