Lost LAN access in RC2 after Office 2007 + B2TR install

I feel like I'm missing something simple.

Needless to say, there were no LAN issues prior to the Office + B2TR
install. The behavior is like the "Network Discovery" option were disabled
and, of course, it is not.

Other computers on the LAN can see each other, but none can see the RC2
system. The RC2 box can see the router, a network connected external storage
device and itself, but no other computers.

RC2 has Internet access and reports a proper LAN IP address. From the other
computers on the LAN, one can ping the RC2 system and vice versa.

RC2 system can even print to a printer connected to a XP machine on the LAN
(the printer connection was setup prior to the Office install).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks much!
 
I guess I should have also asked, have you set it to the same workgroup? Is
there anything shared on the Vista system?

Actually, I should have included that info before. But, yes, the RC2 box
reports being in the same workgroup as the other machines on the LAN. Also,
the workgroup name is unique and not one of Microsoft's defaults. So I know
that RC2 is in the right workgroup.

I'm headed out of town for the weekend and so may not be in a place where I
can reply. I don't want you or any others who might respond to think I've
lost interest.

An update with apparent solution.

I noted in an earlier posting that my RC2 box was reporting that it belonged
to the correct workgroup. I based that remark in the fact that when I went to
Start buttom > Network > Network and Sharing Center (a button along the top
"options" bar), I was presented with a view that in two places reported that
the machine belonged to the correct (and uniquely namely) workgroup.

However, this morning when I choose the "View Computer Details" option from
the "Welcome Center" I noticed that the Workgroup name was "workgroup"
instead of the unique name that was being reported at the "Network and
Sharing Center". Sooo, I choose the "Change settings" button > System
Properties dialog box (Computer Name tab) > Network ID button (NOTE: NOT the
Change button). Then followed the options for a computer in a work
environment that does not use a domain server (my actual setup). Eventually,
I was presented with the option to change the Workgroup name from WORKGROUP
to the unique name I had thought was already being used. After rebooting I
was again able to see and connect to the other computers on the LAN.

I suspect that if I had chosen the HOME computing environment option I still
would have been able to "correct" the workgroup name.
