Help! I ran the system restore feature on my PC (windows
xp home) and now have lost Internet connection. It is not
reading the IP address for my router. My other PC
(connected to same router) is fine...Internet up and
running.

Does anyone know what might have happened when I ran the
system restore to cause this? I have a Realtek
RTL8139/810X Family Fast ethernet NIC.

Thanks!

Hi,
I think mayyyyybe that your router has to be reactivated after you execute a
'system restore.' I may not know what Im talking about, so just disregard
this if this doesnt make any sense. --But when you initially hooked the
router to your PC,(as per the instructions that came in the box) didnt you
have to go to a website and enter the model number and an activation code? I
seem to recall having to do that.

Hi...

I originally thought it might be the router...but...the
other computer (the one I am typing this message on) is
hooked to the same router. This one is working just fine.
So...I don't think this is a router problem. I am
beginning to think that it is a Windows XP problem. I have
checked all of the connections...everything is in place.
My Internet settings are all correct, but when I look at
the IP address through My Network Connections...it is not
showing the correct address. The tech at my ISP said
typing in the correct IP wouldn't help. I don't
know...that's why I came to this site... to see if I could
get some ideas. Thanks!
