Lost Internet after running Home \Network Wizard

Greg

I accidentally ran the HNW in an instance where I don't intend to share files
around my home network. I have a DSL modem connected to a router (wired and
wireless). My main machine (desktop running XP PRO fully up to date) is
connected to the router by cat5 cable and had been running great for a long
time. I know the router and DSL modem are working fine because I can access
the internet on my laptop using a wireless connection. Although when
starting up the desktop does get a good IP address, I can't successfully
repair the connection on the desktop. Also I can't create an internet
gateway connection. I'm almost ready to re-install XP over my original
installation. I've tried everything I can think of. Is there any thing
short of re-installation that will fix this problem?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi
Short of total OS installation, you can try to "delete the network" and
reinstall it.
Make sure that you have the drivers for the network card. When the computer
is Off take out the Network card and boot one time without the card (that
would get rid of the old network) Switch Off, reinsert the card, Boot, and
install the Drivers, within a minute will have a New Network.
Checking the Network, http://www.ezlan.net/debug.thml
Jack (MVP-Networking).
