Lost Internet Access

My boss' laptop will no longer connect to the internet
via our cable modem. He can communicate fine, using the
internal modem and CompuServe. It seems to have a problem
with the RJ45 jack, though there is one green light, and
one flashing yellow on the back of the computer. I
checked the Network Connections, and the settings are
correct. What might be the problem?
 
Have you tried a different Ethernet cable? Can he get an IP address via
DHCP? Anything in his system event logs? Have you restarted the cable modem?
