After running Antispyware I noticed that I've lost my
Auto Search. Usually typing a search term in the address
bar gives me a Google result. But now it just gives me:
http:///? "search term" and the blank can't load page.

How can I restore this?

Open regedit and change these three keys as shown

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSearchURL]

Thanks for your suggestions. But that only changed my
Search Assistant. I wanted to make AutoSearch to give me
Google result. You know when you type the search term
directly in the address bar w/o opening Search Assistant.

In that case you need this:

Can't you see the attachment? The paper clip? Save that file somewhere then
double click on it. It will change your registry entry and you will be able
to type words for search in the address bar and it will take you to Google.
It will ask you if you are sure you want to of course. :)

Robert was using the Microsoft Communities webpage so probably couldn't
see the attachment. I downloaded it but it was stripped of line breaks.
(I dl'd in both OE and this beast of a newsreader I use and got the same
result.) I'd try to reproduce it, but I think it'll wrap oddly, and I'm
not sure where are all the line breaks.

OK. It looks like it may not wrap badly here.

Hi Robert - Download and run:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG to restore
your DEFAULT Search functionality and reset your prefixes. You'll have to
manually re-select any Search Customizations you may have had, however.
