My default HTML document icons have changed, I tried to get the default
icons back by going to:
Control Panel>Folder Options>file Types>HTML Documents>Advanced>change Icon,
but when I click the "Change Icon" button I get this message: "Windows
cannot find the file%1."
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Eileen...
Although I too would recommend the programs Frank suggests for saving the
"favicons", if I read your problem correctly, the following link may be the
answer that you are looking for:

Incorrect or generic Windows icon displayed for HTM and HTML files

Oh Oh! I spoke too soon I did a reboot on my computer and they changed back
to the wrong icons again and I can't get the default icons to work again.
I Tried the links again and this time they did not work, but I am not
computer literate enough to risk working on the Registry can some give me a
step by step for dummies?
I need more help!
Thanks Eileen

Hi Eileen...

Sorry about the confusion. In working with the registry, the term "key" is
analogous to Windows folders and the term "value" is analogous to files.
Therefore in your example, the green arrow is the KEY and the red arrow is
the VALUE. And just like folders, a KEY can have many values as well as
sub-keys. These in turn, can have their own values and sub-keys. The very
top level(s) of registry keys are called HIVES. In Windows XP there are five
registry HIVES.

I assume you're Ok with the rest of the instructions re: backing up or
"exporting a key". You always want to select the KEY to export. This will
save the KEY itself and all values and subkeys within. Make the
changes/deletions you want, then if you want to return this key to its
original state, just doubleclick the "reg" file that you saved.

I hope this helps. The problem you describe with the icons is one that I had
a while back. This solution worked for me.
