We have just rebuilt our pc from motherboard up. We intended putting our old
hard drive on as a second drive with the new one as master. In the process
somewhere we think we may have removed the partition from the old drive
(thought we were doing it from the new drive which we were trying to
reformat). Now although both drives appear when you look in control
panel/system/device manager, the disc is not recognised in My Computer. Any
ideas as to how we can at least get the info from the 'lost' drive, or even
better get it to be recognised by XP.
Any tips appreciated
got the following advice :-
Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
select Disk Management. The drive should appear on the right hand side of
the screen from where you can assign it a drive letter.
but...it says the drive is 'unallocated', and it appears we need to form a
new partition before we can allocate it a letter (or do anything else for
that matter) and I'm worried if we do this we will lose the data from the
drive. is it safe to add a partition?
