Lost the hard drive. Reloaded XP, now when I try to
download patches, updates, etc. Times out, or connection
fails. Is there a way to get all these updates on a disk?

Hi Joann,

You can buy a SP1 CD from MS or, if you know someone with a broadband
connection, get them to download the network install edition of SP1a and the
rollup install of critical updates. These can be burned to a CD and all you
will have to do is double click the exe to install them to your machine.
Install SP1 first. The rest of the up-dates can be handled the same way but,
you should be able to download them from your own internet connection as
they don't take very long. That is, with the exception of WMP, it can also
be downloaded by your friend.

With a good connection, it is not a major chore so, don't be afraid to ask
someone. With my connection, it only takes 6 min. to download SP1.

LOL, JAX
