I used to have a formula bar, which included a window
showing which cell I was using and the contents of a cell
(formula or numbers). I've lost it. How do I get it back?

Thanks, Ron. But what if that does not work. I've
reinstalled Excel, and it's still not there.

I tried that, but I do not have Options in my Tools menu.
I do have "Formula Bar" in preferences and it is checked.
But it does not show.

Then try this Stephen

Close Excel
Do a search for .xlb in windows
Rename the file you found (mine is named Excel10.xlb in 2002)
Start Excel

Deleting the file or renaming will do no harm on your system
Excel will create a new one for you.
(You lost your customization remember that)

If you make your own toolbars or add buttons to the others
This file is important (backup it so you can restore it)

Thank you, Ron. I had misgivings about this because I use a
Mac and it does not use extensions. A search found no .xlb
files.

Hi Stephen

I never see or touch a Mac in my life
Ask this in the Excel Mac group

microsoft.public.mac.office.excel
Or
microsoft.public.excel.macintosh

Post back with the answer please
Maybe I can use it also when I have one<g>

I paid Microsoft $35. THey told me to open my hard drive and
go into Library > Preferences > Microsoft. Then I took them
out of that folder. And now I have a formula bar.
