lost formatting when sending or printing e-mail

Help! It seems that whenever I compose an e-mail, it looks fine. Whenever I
send or print that e-mail, it looses its formatting on the receivers end.
What could be causing this?

A lot could be happening, including something on the recipient's client.
Without more information, it's impossible to say.
