I am running windows 2000 professional. I turned my computer off last night
and when I turned it on this morning the introduction screen for windows came
up like I had just taken the computer out of the box and turned it on for the
first use. I had to go through the welcome screen and set up my e-mail
again. All of my files were gone also. I also had three different printer
and I had to set all of them up again. I had to add my desktop short again.
But all of the software I had installed is still on there like excel, word,
outlook, etc. I did download and install google desktop yesterday before I
turned my computer off but I don't think that had anything to do with it.
Could anyone tell me what caused this? Thanks for any help

Sounds like your profile has become corrupt. Look in C:\Documents and
Settings for a folder with your original user name in and with luck your
files should be in there
