Lost field in a query when deselected the "view"

I wanted to temporarily not view a field and deselected the "view" option in
the design view, but when I returned to the query the fields were gone? Is
this not possible in a query?

If the query had no criteria based on that field then it would have
been removed from the query completely. You can always add it
back in design view.
