Hi:

I have a friend who is a college student and has a Toshiba laptop and no longer can connect to internet. What is the best way to check it out to see if it's the hardware port itself vs software? She has tried numerous software fixes and now think it's the port itself, but currently is not sure.

I posted this in a another Newsgroup, but feel that this is probably the best Newsgroup to find an early answer.

Thanks

click start then control panel then adminastration tools then click on device
manager look to see if there is a question mark next to any of the installed
components if there is click on the one with the question mark click on
reinstall driver and follow the instructions at one point it will tell you to
put in cdrom its the one you should have got with your laptop titled device
drivers and it should install them again if you havent got cdrom look for
esupport on internet it will scan your lap mtop and select the latest drivers
for your lap top download and install hope this helps.

Next time don't multipost; crosspost judiciously instead. I already
answered your post in the other newsgroup. Here is information about
why multiposting will get you *less* help:

Hi Rick:

Thanks. Ask a simple question and get a simple answer from you every time without all the "other" talk about "cross posting".

I know that she will appreciate this info.....

Thanks again,

Tom
