I have Vista and use Windows Mail. I was typing (a long email) and the power
went off! I had hoped that when I restarted puter, I would get a notice of
the unsaved email but did not. I can't find it any where either. Do you know
where it would have gone? Any suggestion to help me retrieve it? I did the
'search' with no luck. Thanks

I am sorry, but it is gone forever.

In the future, while composing, use "File | Save" to save a copy in the
Drafts folder. Or you can use some other editor to compose the message, then
save it while composing using whatever the other program offers for doing
that. Then copy and paste the message into a WinMail message when ready.

You should also get a battery backup for your computer; they are usually
called Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs).

Just a side note in reference to the "use another editor" comment . . . . .
the "auto-save / auto-recovery" feature is not reliable either. It seems
MS's idea of an "outage", and therefore a reason for auto-save /
auto-recovery, is quite different from most user's. It is best to manually
save, regardless of the type of composition, mail or documents. And at
best, only expects edits as of that last manual save and nothing beyond.

You're out of luck.

For future reference, when composing a message (or any other document) save
it often.

An easy way to save it is CTRL + S.
