I basically lost access to my e-mail accounts at carolina.rr.com. Their help
desk was basically helpless as it was through their instructions trying to
accomplish an entirely different task (unsuccessfully) that I lost the access
in the 1st place. I'm pretty sure the the files from those accounts are
still on my hard drive, but I don't know how to access them.

For access with the web browser or with an email client like Outlook
Express? What Operating System (OS) version are you using?

Web access normally requires enabling web cookies for that site. Please
provide your IE version number if you are attempting to access your mail
through the web. The browser version number allows someone with the same
version to provide a step by step process to see if the various cookie
settings in your browser are correct. With web access the actual message
content is usually stored on the mail service provider's mail server
until you delete the message.

Manual configuration of mail client applications require identification
of separate incoming and outgoing remote mail servers in dialog boxes.
Exact procedures may vary depending on which client application you are
using (may depend on your Operating System version as well). Some
Internet Service Providers offer software that will make these settings
automatically BUT the software might not work on old or extremely new OS
versions.

Spelling out the mail provider identification (Road Runner instead of
rr) couldn't hurt.

Thanks for the response. I'm running under Windows XP and am using Internet
Explorer 7. My objective is to retrieve the lost information if it is indeed
on my hard drive. Do you know if that is possible? Thanks.
