lost drive c:...Sort of.....wont boot..

Here we go..booted up system(winxppro)and bios posted..then ran into cant boot to selected device..ts a IBM drive>>>>
so i booted to a spare maxtor drive i have a,d i was ok..tried to access the IBM drive, and it was there.opened it in my computer and data and file folders were there..(came to the conclusion that it was a boot sector problem..)until i
tyied to open documents and settings..file folder., when i got to the Tony folder, NO DICE, CONT open it to get my data off drive.
Tryed booting to cd the going to console and doing fixboot, and fixmbr..NOthing
still wont boot to the IBM drive..HELP!!!!That Data on that drive is CRITICAL!!!!!!

Hi,

Boot the WinXP CD, load the Recovery Console (as you undoubtably already
have), from the command prompt run "chkdsk <drive:> /r", see if that helps.

Also, to recover the data with the other drive booted, you may need to take
ownership (depending on what operating system exists on the other machine),
